We had our laptop set on the kitchen table and logged into the Zoom meeting with Allen. He called on the cell phone so we could talk on speaker instead of trying to converse through the computer speaker. Allen shared his computer screen and uploaded the 3D Walkthrough of our house.
Unfortunately, we were not able to get the walkthrough file due to rendering and computer software issues. The walkthrough was an amazing experience for us to be able to see our "vision" come to life. He walked us around the exterior of the house to show detail on the brick and siding, this also included landscaping around the property that will not be accurate when the house is built, but was cool to be able to see the potential for the curb appeal.
Going into the garages and seeing the space made us realize that this will be a great space for not only our 2 cars, but for our golf cart and riding lawnmower that we will need to move 2.19 acres of lawn. He moved over and brought us in the front door and it was apparent that Colleen's vision of walking in the front door would instantly draw your eyes to the almost floor to ceiling windows in the living room to the backyard and future space of the swimming pool. It was almost jaw-dropping on the beauty that the 1st impression of walking in the front door will give our visitors. Walking into the living room area and off to the left is the kitchen of Colleen's dreams that we basically designed this house around. The large 10 foot long island looks amazing and behind that is the focal point of the kitchen with the built in gas stove range and custom cabinetry. Off to the left side wall of the kitchen is the double built in ovens, the refrigerator and in between them is the tall cabinet that opens up to the almost 6'x15' hidden pantry. To the right of the kitchen is the dinning room with built in custom cabinets with a buffet counter top and also the glass door to the covered rear porch. The rear porch is huge like we wanted with a 16' x 25' size. At the far East end of the porch is the door for the half bath so we do not have to go into the house while entertaining family and friends. Seeing it in 3D assured us that we designed it correctly that we will have enough room off the side to have the outdoor kitchen without disrupting the living room view out the windows to the backyard.
Looking around the living room/kitchen/dining room was beautiful. Looking to the right while walking in the front door also highlights the double French doors to lead into "bedroom 2" that we have designed to be our office with cathedral ceiling. Down the hall from the office to the left is the bathroom with double vanity for the office and spare bedroom. Straight ahead down the hallway leads to the guest bedroom with an exterior door to open up into the backyard.
Facing the kitchen from the living room has doors at the left and to the right. To the right leads into the master bedroom, master bathroom with double vanity, separate soaking tub and large shower with the door to the 7'x11' master closet. To the left of the kitchen, the door leads to the hallway/drop zone that contains the basement steps, laundry room, half bath, lockers and door to lead into the garage area.
Going down the steps to the basement opens up to the large living area with kitchenette. At the base of the steps is a large door to get into the storage area & utility area. The living area has a door to the side of the kitchenette that leads into the game room/theatre room. This was designed to keep games in a confined area and not clutter the common area. Down the hallway leads to the bathroom and the 2 bedrooms for Anna and Jake, both with egress windows facing East so they don't interfere with future swimming pool plans.
We spent easily over an hour walking through the 3D plan, looking at every little detail from door locations, window placements and the angles of walls leading into hallways, etc. This is truly a dream-come-true for us and could not have wished for more. It was so amazing when Colleen and I were able to tell Allen that this plan is Approved with no changes required!!!!!
Final Approval size of the plan:
1st Floor Finished: 2,471 square feet
Garage: 1, 042 square feet
Front Porch: 123 square feet
Rear Porch: 404 square feet
Basement Finished: 1,434 square feet
Basement Unfinished: 641 square feet
Allen emailed us Final Approved Plan on Thursday, March 31, 2022. Included in the finalized plans were everything that the builders would need to bid out the home. Now the nerve-wracking part was about to begin on getting the bids out and having to wait for possibly a few months to get back the cost of the build.
